Area Covered: Inner City—covering York Street, Cuffe St. and Mercer House—all located at back of St. Stephen’s Green Centre.
Visitations: Wednesday Evenings-weekly—from Aras Treasa ( which is located next to Powerstown centre. We make about 40 visits a week. All visits are to local Authority tenants living within the area we cover.
Visiting Times: We meet at 6.30 pm and start our visits about 7.15 pm. for between one hour and one hour and a half and two hours.
People Visited: Families with/without both parents. Young and Old Single Men / Widowers / Young and Old Single Women/ Widows
How we assist: Our weekly visits establish and maintain contact with the people in the area we cover. These are used to meet, greet, chat, and listen. We provide a range of financial assistance for fuel (especially over the Winter and the early months of Spring.), cash assistance for food, clothes, furniture, help towards education via the provision of assistance to buy schoolbooks and uniforms. We have set up a homework club for Children in Mercier House aged 4 to 11 earlier this year. We provide money to assist with Homework / Breakfast Clubs being run with other conferences in the Dublin South Central Area. We also provide help towards holidays and take the people, we visit on a day trip out of Dublin also once a year. Everyone will get hamper for Christmas.
Other activities: Church gate collection on the Third Sunday of every month. Christmas Appeal on the second Sunday of December—and Hampers will be delivered on the Last Saturday before Christmas.
